FUTURESCAPE 2010

Creating better quality neighbourhoods, buildings and public spaces

Architecture Centre Network invites you to a one day international symposium at the Victoria and Albert Museum on 19 March 2010. The event will bring together key decision makers and practitioners in the design and regeneration sector.

 

Keynote speakers:


  • Rick Bell, Executive Director, American Institute of Architects, New York. Rick has served as Executive Director of the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects since 2001. He has worked to engage the architectural community on public policy issues including accessibility, affordable housing, disaster response, public health and sustainable design.
  • Liesbeth van der Pol, Chief Government Architect of the Netherlands. Liesbeth is a Dutch architect with an international profile and she is a frequent guest lecturer at European universities and design academies. Appointed to be the Chief Government Architect of the Netherlands in July 2008 she works to further the role of architecture in improving social and ecological systems. She will be giving an overview of the Dutch change in approach from regional planning to local spatial planning.

Afternoon master classes will cover:

Design excellence   Built environment education

Communicating architecture to a wider public

 Creative cities       Community participation

And feature speakers from: Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios; muf; Chicago Architecture Foundation; DSDHA; Open House; Architecture Foundation; Netherlands Architecture Institute; BEAM; Irish Architecture Foundation; and Fluid.
